No matter which types of mushrooms you’re talking about, it’s usually a love ‘em or hate ‘em kind of affair.
Existing in a myriad of shapes, sizes, and colors, these fruiting bodies of fungi are also pretty black and white. Some can be enjoyed in a meal; others are seriously poisonous.
Different Types of Mushrooms
Mushrooms belong to the kingdom Fungi, which includes mushrooms, molds, yeasts, and mildews. Although it doesn’t sound appetizing, they usually are, especially when well-prepared.
Unlike plants, wild mushrooms don’t photosynthesize. Instead, they either gather nutrients through decomposing matter or their symbiotic relationship with plantlife.
