It has been a stretch of stormy days for much of the West Coast as a series of atmospheric rivers took aim at the region. Here is a look back at what this part of the country experienced this week as well as what is coming up next.

Looking Back at the Week of Powerful Weather on the West Coast

Northern California, Oregon, and Washington have been at the mercy of a train of storms over the last week, sending rain, snow, and gusty winds across the region. The active weather pattern started last week when the first atmospheric river moved in from the Pacific Ocean. This was just the beginning of what has been a highly unsettled week of weather.

Powerful winds hit the top terrains of California as the storms roared from west to east. California's Mammoth Mountain notched a reading of 139 mph on Saturday. The same area then recorded a gust of 138 mph on Tuesday night. A handful of other mountaintops also saw gusts eclipse the 100 mph mark.

These top wind gusts were recorded in unpopulated and remote areas. However, wind gusts ranging from 40 to 60 mph on Tuesday afternoon brought down several trees across roadways, snarling travel for some residents.

The snowfall levels this week have also been impressive. Mount Shasta in the northern part of California recorded 68 inches of new snowfall over the past week. Over 50 inches of this total has fallen over the last few days. The Tahoe area was also slammed with new snow accumulation, prompting an avalanche warning on Tuesday.
