YesterdayIt has been a relatively quiet stretch of days across much of the central U.S., particularly compared to the fiery start to the spring storm season. However, the brief period of calm conditions is about to come to an end as a more active weather pattern sets up in a zone from the southern Plains and up through the Ohio Valley and beyond. Here is a look at what you can expect in the week ahead.
Stormier Conditions on Tap for the Central U.S. and Beyond This Week
Forecasters are warning that the atmosphere will become more primed for storm development as the week progresses, increasing the chances of severe weather for much of the central and eastern U.S. At the very least, the upcoming pattern will be more volatile than what much of the U.S. has seen in recent days.
The storms will persist into the Easter holiday weekend for some areas. You can blame the unsettled weather on a number of atmospheric elements, including warm and humid air coming up from the Gulf of Mexico clashing with the cooler air in place to the north. Meanwhile, energy surging to the east from the western U.S. will amplify the risk of storms over the nation's midsection.
