Passenger on Singapore Airlines Dies After Severe Turbulence Hits Flight

Singapore Airlines announced on Tuesday that one passenger is dead after a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft encountered severe turbulence while flying from London to Singapore. The plane diverted to Bangkok, Thailand, landing at about 3:45 pm local time on Tuesday at Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The airline said there were 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board. In addition to the confirmed fatality, there were at least 71 people injured as a result of the rocky ride. The Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital in Bangkok said that six people were severely injured. An official at the Bangkok airport said that seven individuals were in critical condition upon arrival.
