At least 19 people have died in the past week in the U.S. at the hands of severe weather ranging from tornadoes to flash flooding. A break in the weather pattern is finally on the way for the battered central and southern U.S. Here is what you should expect in the coming days.

Looking Back at the Past Week of Severe Weather

The Midwest and the South have been at the mercy of Mother Nature this spring with relentless rounds of severe thunderstorms, tornadic activity, and flooding rainfall. The activity has been particularly volatile since last Wednesday. More than 1,700 reports of severe weather occurred between March 29 and April 5. The bulk of these reports were recorded across the Midwest, the Plains, the Ohio Valley, and the Mississippi Valley.

Tornadic activity has also been soaring. March 30 and 31 saw at least 44 confirmed tornadoes. Meteorological officials are still working to confirm the number of twisters that have sprung up since the beginning of April.
