Sierra Nevada Snow Storm to Bring Blizzard Conditions
Forecasters are warning that intense blizzard conditions could develop in the coming hours across the higher terrains of California, forcing the closures of some of the state's most travelled mountain passes.
In addition to the heavy snow, the forecast is calling for powerful winds and an influx of frigid air throughout much of the West into the weekend. Sierra Nevada will be under the greatest threat of blizzard conditions as what is being hailed as the biggest California snow storms of the season takes aim during the second half of the week.
Snow levels are predicted to drop over the course of the next few days, eventually landing at 2,000 to 3,000 feet for the mountains of Northern and Central California by the end of the week. This will almost certainly hamper travel for motorists.
