Last yearThe Western U.S. has been berated with a series of storms early this week, and they aren't about to let up now. Forecasters are warning residents and travelers heading to the region for Thanksgiving of major stormy weather that is expected to bring a large amount of moisture, snow, and travel delays.
Who is at Risk?
Initially, the Pacific Northwest will be targeted by the storms. However, the stormy weather is expected to spread south to California and the interior Great Basin region starting next week. These storms could be the first major ones of the winter season, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and mountain snow.
Earlier in the month, the Northwest U.S. and the Rockies felt the impacts of two storms that moved through the area. That was just the beginning of what is expected to be a stormy month for the Northwest.
On Thursday, the storms brought heavy rain to the Pacific Northwest, including Portland and Seattle, and is expected to continue through the weekend. Seattle could see an inch or more of rain, which will only add to the total 4.09 inches the area has already seen this month as of November 8th. That's about 2.5 inches over the historical average.
