7 hours agoPeople who have grown tired of the long and cold winter are going to love the forecast for this week for the central and eastern U.S. The warmest temperatures since 2024 are on the horizon for this part of the country in the days ahead. Here is a look at this toasty forecast.
Warmer Weather Building Across the Central and Eastern U.S.
Temperatures are going to land in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s for daytime highs for a large swath of the central and eastern parts of the nation during the first half of the week. Forecasters are predicting that temperatures will reach well over the historical average for the middle of March for several days.
The weather pattern will also favor dry conditions for most areas east of the Rockies and stretching to the East Coast for the next few days. The exception will be a lingering storm system that is going to bring rain and chillier than normal temperatures to the Southeast through the end of the day Monday. There will also be an isolated chance of rain and snow showers for the northern edge of the Midwest and to the east into New England.
How warm will it get in the days ahead? Readings in the 30s and the 40s in the northern tier of the U.S. will increase into the 50s and 60s for the first few days of the week. Heading to the south, readings in the 50s and 60s will be replaced by temperatures that hit the 70s and 80s.
The building warmth is good news for people hoping to get a start on spring gardening. It will also be a great time to head outside for recreational activities.
