It has been a dry start to the year for the bulk of Texas, continuing the trend from the fall of 2024. While some areas of the Lone Star State have seen bouts of severe weather at times, it has been particularly dry in West Texas. Forecasters are offering hope that some relief could be on the way in the days ahead as a more active weather pattern sets up. Here is a look at this unsettled forecast for Texas.

Much-Needed Moisture Headed to Texas This Week

Texas will see a mostly dry start to the new week. The exception to this rule will be in the southeastern corner of the state and in South Texas. For instance, Spring Breakers on South Padre Island may be dodging a stray thunderstorm or rain shower on Monday. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with the temperatures expected to top out in the mid 70s before slipping to 67 degrees overnight.

Houston will also be under the gun for an errant shower or storm earlier in the day. It will be a warm day in this part of South Texas with a high of about 85 degrees and lows that bottom out in the mid 60s.

Tuesday will be mostly dry throughout the state. However, that will begin to change when the sun goes down. Meteorologists are predicting that an area of low pressure will form along a stalled front that is expected to set up over North Texas late Tuesday. This will result in the development of rain that could linger well into Wednesday.

For example, Dallas will see the chance of rain showers overnight Tuesday that could still be hanging around during the Wednesday morning commute. The mercury will fall significantly during this time, going from a high in the low 90s on Tuesday to readings that max out in the upper 70s on Wednesday.
