Northeast Forecast to See More Fluctuations in Temperatures
Alexis Thornton
4 months agoThe Northeast is enjoying a brief respite from the August heat this week but the chill is not going to hang around for long. Here is what is up next for the topsy turvy weather pattern in this part of the country.
Fall-like Weather This Week for the Northeast
Temperatures are trending up to 20 degrees below the historical average for this time in August across the Northeast. A large storm system is ushering in the cooler temperatures and lower humidity levels in a zone from the Great Lakes and over to the Atlantic coastline.
This pattern has translated to readings that feel like the beginning of October, sending residents reaching for sweaters and extra blankets at night. High temperatures during the middle of the week will top out in the upper 70s in the Chesapeake Bay region and the low 60s over the higher elevations of the central Appalachians.
Overnight lows will also take a tumble. The coldest readings of the week will likely happen Wednesday night and into Thursday. The mercury will slip into the 40s and 50s for the top terrains and in the low 60s and upper 50s in and around Chesapeake Bay.
For instance, the temperatures will plummet to about 58 degrees after the sun goes down in Annapolis, Maryland on Wednesday.
