Measles Cases Surge as Outbreak Hits Multiple States
Shane Naughton
Last weekOver 300 cases of measles have been reported in the U.S., and a centralized area of Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have contributed to the most cases. More than 15 states have confirmed cases.
The 2025 measles outbreak has already hospitalized over 38 individuals, resulted in 1 death, and has spread. This is one of the biggest fears when it comes to measles because of its highly contagious symptoms. With some questions surrounding the vaccine, more families have chosen to waive the vaccine, making outbreaks like this one a cause for concern.
The disease was originally thought to have been eradicated in 2000, but recent outbreaks have caused it to reappear. While containment efforts are underway, the high density of children in schools, daycares, and families makes it hard to control. Stay safe and recognize any symptoms your child may be exhibiting.
