Unfortunately, we’re still in the throws of hurricane season. October hurricanes like Hurricane Helene and Milton proved that, just when we think we're nearing the end, it’s not quite over yet.

Whether you’re a seasoned storm tracker or a newcomer to hurricane-prone areas, you might be wondering, “When does hurricane season end?” And, perhaps more importantly, are there more storms lurking out there, waiting to make landfall?

When Does Hurricane Season End?

Hurricane season in the Atlantic officially runs from June 1 to November 30 each year. That’s six whole months of keeping an eye on the tropics, watching for swirls on satellite images, and making sure we’re stocked up on essentials.

But, just because the calendar marks the end of hurricane season in November doesn’t mean Mother Nature always follows the rules. As we’ve seen, the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season has been devastating in places like Asheville, NC and Tampa, FL.
