Snow was reported to fall from Texas down to New Orleans and Florida’s white beaches on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025, while breaking century-old records. Snows that once came every winter, but few had seen in a while has turned towns on their backs. Many of these towns are better suited for hurricanes rather than blizzards. Sadly, this lack of preparedness has made the situation more dire, leaving 9 dead amidst the chaos of the storm.

Break in All Record Ends

Florida watched its all-time snow record crumble when Milton measured 9.8 inches from the storm - crushing the old record of 4 inches set in 1954 in this same area. Pensacola's beaches disappeared under white drifts while Interstate 10 transformed into a winter wonderland.

Mobile hadn't seen snow in over a decade. Then Tuesday brought 7.5 inches, shattering all-time records. Nearby Babbie, Alabama topped the list with 11 inches - depths usually seen in Minnesota, not the Deep South.
