The Heat is On in the Eastern U.S.

Temperatures will approach the century mark in many areas of the nation this week as a heat dome sets up over the eastern half of the U.S. Real feel readings will inch up over the 100-degree barrier in some communities as the humidity levels also begin an upward climb.

Right on time, the peak of the heat wave will hit just in time for the official start of the astronomical summer on Thursday, June 20. In addition to creating uncomfortable conditions, the heat will also stress some power grids and put many at risk of blackouts.
