It’s an interesting question: does weather affect mood? The short answer is yes, it does. For example, both hot and cold weather can lead to dehydration – in different ways – causing headaches, feelings of irritability, and fatigue.

How Does Weather Affect Mood?

As the seasons change, so does the amount of sunlight we receive, a key element on our serotonin levels. There are a few different ways to adapt to the changing seasons. But, first, let’s discuss why it creates these changes and how to remain regulated.

Cold Weather and Mood

While most of us have natural inclinations towards warmer or cooler climates, cold weather tends to bring on a range of mood changes. For some people, a drop in temperature can bring on a degree of discomfort. Because of that, irritability can set in, especially when the days are short and the nights are long.
