13 hours agoA relentless storm system tore through the United States over the weekend of March 14-16, 2025, leaving a trail of devastation that claimed at least 42 lives across multiple states. The Midwest and South bore the brunt, with Missouri suffering the highest toll—12 deaths—while Kansas reported eight, many from a catastrophic dust storm that turned Interstate 70 into a deadly pile-up of 71 vehicles.
Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas also mourned losses, with fatalities ranging from three to six per state. The National Weather Service recorded nearly 1,500 storm reports, a staggering testament to the chaos unleashed by tornadoes, wildfires, and high winds that left communities reeling.
EF-4 & EF-3 Tornado Outbreak in the South
The heart of the destruction pulsed through seven states where tornadoes shredded homes and businesses. In Missouri’s Villa Ridge, a suspected twister stripped second floors from houses, exposing bedrooms to the sky while sparing neighbors just yards away.
Further south, Arkansas faced an EF-4 tornado with 190-mph winds, the outbreak’s strongest, which flattened Diaz and Jackson County. Drone footage from Cave City revealed a landscape of ruin, with three deaths confirmed in Independence County and 32 injuries across eight counties.
