Flash flood emergencies are gripping a large portion of the south-central U.S. and the Midwest as rain continues to inundate the already saturated region. Unfortunately, the unfolding flooding event has turned deadly.

Deadly Flash Flooding Claims 2 More Lives

The flooding event unfolding across the central U.S. has turned deadly. On Friday morning, a 9-year-old bow was swept away in Frankfurt, Kentucky, while walking to the bus stop. Authorities said that the body of Gabriel Andrews was found roughly a half mile from where the waters swept him away.

More recently, another death was confirmed on Saturday afternoon as a result of the flooding. According to the Nelson County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky, a man was found dead in a vehicle that was underwater in a location approximately 30 miles south of Louisville.

The situation worsened under the cover of darkness. According to the National Weather Service (NWS), flash flood emergencies were issued in at least seven cities throughout Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri on Friday night. This flooding event is impacting an area that was hit with devastating tornadoes on Wednesday. At least seven fatalities have been blamed on that outbreak.
