Southern States Underwater as Rain Refuses to Let Up
With warnings from the National Weather Service pre-dating these storms, intense rainfall started during the middle of the week and did not let up. The result was multiple flash floods across multiple states. It was something forecasters called a “generational event.”
Across the South and Midwest, roads, homes, and critical infrastructure were left underwater from major floods. In Memphis, more than 14 inches of rain have fallen since Wednesday. West Memphis, Arkansas, recorded 10 inches, while Jonesboro, Arkansas, had its wettest April day on record with over 5 inches of rainfall.
