What Was the Worst Florida Hurricane in History?

When Florida hurricane season hits, it’s important to stay up to date with the latest developments. Whether a Category 1 storm (the least severe) or a Category 5 storm (the most severe) is about to make landfall, each of them can cause major damage, costing billions of dollars in repairs and, worse, claiming the lives of those who get caught in its wake. 

Florida Hurricane History

Hurricanes are natural disasters that impact several different parts of the world, including the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, the East Coast of the United States, and the Northeast Pacific Ocean. 

As far as the United States, however, Florida is the state that gets hit the most. If you live in the area, it’s important to always stay tuned to local weather reports because anything can happen during storm season. Here's a sampling of some of the deadliest hurricanes in Florida’s history.
