What to Expect in the U.S. for Weather in November
Alexis Thornton
3 weeks agoNovember is a month of transition when it comes to the weather as fall begins to bleed into signs of winter. The result can be a dynamic weather pattern with a little bit of everything at times. Here is a look at what you can expect to find across the U.S. in November.
Windy Conditions a Mainstay
One of the most prevalent weather elements of November comes in the form of winds. November across the Midwest is known for its "witch" storms, a term used to denote the intense windstorms that can come on quickly across the nation's midsection. Winds whipping up in early November can be strong enough to bring down trees and power lines, causing widespread outages and other types of damage. These storms are also common across the Great Lakes, disrupting shipping along these waterways.
The "witch" storms are most likely to develop in the fall months as a result of the temperature clashes in the northern U.S. with mercury readings in the southern part of the country. This contrast of temperatures assists in the formation of strong areas of low pressure. High winds are naturally a product of powerful low-pressure systems.
