What SPHEREx Will Be Doing After Its Upcoming Launch

After more than a decade of development, SPHEREx is getting ready to launch. SPHEREx stands for Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe, Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer, and contrary to the name, is not in the shape of a sphere.

With the upcoming launch, NASA, Caltech, SpaceX, and many other organizations are looking forward to this milestone mission that should provide more answers about our unknown universe.

What is the SPHEREx Mission?

The SPHEREx mission is set to map the entire sky over two years. Its goal is to learn more about the origins of the universe by studying over 450 million galaxies and more than 100 million stars in our Milky Way.
