What is a Drought? | Dangers and Prevention

3 months agoWhat is a drought? Unfortunately, it’s a prolonged period of abnormally low rainfall, resulting in a shortage of water. It can significantly impact our water supply and the environment, and even lead to wildfires.
Droughts can have devastating effects such as a smaller yield of crops, water shortages, and environmental damage. They can also heighten the risk of wildfires because dry vegetation can easily become ignited and spread at an alarming rate.
What is a Drought?
Droughts occur when precipitation is consistently below average, often exacerbated by high temperatures that increase evaporation and reduce soil moisture.
Other factors such as changes in snowpack, groundwater levels, and streamflow can also contribute to the severity of a drought.
