Weather Related School Delays to Prepare For
Kit Kittlestad
3 months agoSchool delays are a common occurrence throughout the United States, often triggered by a range of weather events that can significantly impact the routines of children, parents, and educators.
School closings and delays are generally put in place to ensure the safety of everyone involved. That said, they can present unique challenges, affecting learning schedules, as well as your ability to arrive at work on time.
School Delays Caused by Weather
The most common culprits when it comes to closings and delays are snow and ice, especially if you live in the Northeast, Midwest, or other mountainous regions. Heavy snowfall can create treacherous driving conditions. Similarly, ice can create hazardous driving and walking conditions.
For school districts, the main concern is the safety and welfare of the students and staff as they travel to and from school. They also have to consider how dangerous it would be for buses to travel on icy or snow-covered roads. The last thing they want is to create new dangers.
