Understanding How the Weather May Impact Your Holiday Baking

5 hours agoYou are not alone if you are using the days ahead to whip up some homemade cookies and other baked goods to enjoy over the holiday week. While you may be more concerned about how the weather outside is impacting your trip to the grocery store for supplies, the conditions can also affect the baking process. Here is what different weather elements may influence the success of your holiday baking.
Air Temperature Impacts
The temperature in your kitchen can impact how your baked goods turn out. For instance, a kitchen that is too hot can impact the amount of excess moisture in the air. Chilling your liquid ingredients prior to stirring them into your batter will slow down the melting of the butter or other types of fats called for in the recipe.
Cooling the air temperature in your kitchen will work to lower the amount of moisture in the air. It does not take long for a kitchen to become too hot, particularly if the oven is on full blast and there are a lot of bodies working in the room. Lean on the natural cooling effects of Mother Nature this year to maintain an ideal temperature in your kitchen by opening a window if it becomes too warm.
