It is shaping up to be a mostly dry and sunny weekend for the bulk of the northeastern U.S. but is trouble brewing on the horizon? Read on for all of the details.

Spotty Rain Showers on Either End of Weekend for the Northeast

Much of the Northeast has been experiencing a gloomy start to the fall. The zone from the central Appalachians and across to the mid-Atlantic has been particularly soggy.

Relief is on the way with a pleasant forecast in store during the heart of the weekend. While spotty showers may spring up in isolated locations throughout the weekend, it will be a stark change from the persistent rain as of late.

Daily high temperatures will hover in the 70s through the end of the weekend in an area stretching from southern New England and down into eastern Virginia. Some of the interior portions of the region may top out with readings in the 60s.

A duo of cool fronts will be responsible for just a slight chance of rain. The first front will push to the east on Friday and Saturday, resulting in the chance of light rain showers for New England. This will be a change for New England, the one part of the East Coast that has remained largely dry this fall. However, the back half of the weekend will feature nicer weather for New England and beyond.

The rest of the Northeast is forecast to remain dry early in the weekend, avoiding the rain showers that may disrupt outdoor plans to the north. Fog could hinder travel in the early morning hours due to the dropping temperatures at night.

Beachgoers will want to exercise caution over the weekend along the East Coast. While Hurricane Kirk will remain thousands of miles away, its swells are expected to extend to the Atlantic Seaboard. This will generate the threat of dangerous rip currents and strong surf conditions. Be sure to pay heed to any posted warnings at beaches.
