Storms Could Impact Northern Plains on Thursday as Temperatures Climb

The extreme heat of the last few days in the central portions of the country has remained well to the south, primarily impacting the southern Plains and through all of Texas.

Meanwhile, the Midwest and the north-central U.S. has enjoyed fall-like conditions with temperatures coming in well below the norm for the middle of August.

However, forecasters are warning that the heat that has been relegated to the southern Plains in recent days is going to surge to the north by the end of the week. Here is a look at what you can expect as the heat expands.
