California is bracing itself as a powerful Pacific storm rolls in, already bringing rain with heavier downpours expected to hit overnight. Authorities are taking no chances, issuing evacuation warnings for areas at high risk of mudslides, including parts of Los Angeles and Malibu.

Meanwhile, road closures and weather advisories are in place across the state. The storm is gearing up to deliver feet of snow to the Sierra Nevada, torrential rain to major cities, and dangerous conditions that could ripple across the country in the coming days.

Evacuations and Road Closures Amid Flood and Mudslide Threats

Los Angeles officials are urging people in fire-scarred neighborhoods to get out or be ready to flee as the threat of floods and mudslides grows. Areas hit hard by recent wildfires, like the Palisades, Sunset, and Hurst blazes, are areas that could be affected.

The burned-out hillsides are a disaster waiting to happen, unstable and primed for dangerous debris flows. Over in Malibu, more than two dozen neighborhoods are on high alert, with evacuation warnings in place as residents brace for possible flash flooding.
