A minor geomagnetic storm is taking place tonight, March 4, 2025, and may prompt a strong Northern Lights display throughout 15 states in the U.S.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predicts these northern lights to have a Kp index 5, indicating that the visible aurora will migrate further away from the poles. It will be more radiant, and exhibit increased auroral activity (more motions and formations). This phenomenon will be quite a marvel for those able to view the magnificent display.
