Active Storm Pattern Churns Forward in Central and Eastern U.S.
Millions of Americans are under the gun for yet another major storm bringing a variety of impacts ranging from rain to ice to snow. Just as forecasters have been warning for days, the first few weeks of February are going to see an active storm track.
This forecast of a parade of storms came to fruition on Wednesday as the first of the train fired up across the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys. A number of cities are waking up to rain or snow showers with more inclement conditions expected through the end of the week as the multi-faceted system pushes to the east.
Residents will barely have time to catch their breath when the next system advances to the east through the weekend. An influx of cold air coming in between the two storms will raise the chances of wintry impacts for the weekend storm. You can expect temperatures to land about 5 to 10 degrees chillier than the readings during the middle of the week, meaning that some areas that escaped with rain during the first storm may be dealing with wintry precipitation by the weekend.
Meteorologists are telling residents to not get too excited about the springlike warmth that moves in on Wednesday and Thursday. While the warmth feels great after the frigid temperatures of January, winter is still not over for this corner of the country.
