March Weather Bringing a Cold Snap to the Northeast and Midwest as Spring Arrives
Alexis Thornton
8 months agoAlthough spring is set to start at 11:06 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, the Midwest and Northeast will then be in the midst of much colder March weather than they had experienced in the last week of winter.
This is the result of cold air descending southeast from Canada, forcing this region to keep out their cold weather gear.
Quite a Shift From Last Week
During the first half of last week, Chicago experienced high temperatures of 67, 71 and 61. On Sunday, a cold Chicago only reached 39, and a similar forecast is expected for several days of this week. To compare, the average high temperature in the Windy City in March is 47.
Meanwhile, in Buffalo, N.Y., temperatures of 56 and 64 were attained on Wednesday and Thursday, but corresponding high temperatures this week are expected to be just 35, 37, 37, 32 and 35. Same as in Chicago, the Queen City's average high in March is between those extremes, 42 in its case.
