Looking Back at Some of the Strangest Weather Events of the Year

2 days agoThe year 2024 brought a number of odd weather events across the planet. While some of these events were markedly different simply due to where they sprung up, others were simply odd in general. Here are some of the strangest weather events that distinguished the past year.
Four Typhoons Spin Up in Just 10 Days
It is not unusual for the Philippines to experience regular tropical weather events. However, what happened in November was extraordinary even by normal standards. The island country saw four different typhoons rage through the region in a period of just 10 days during the early to mid part of November.
What is even more remarkable is that three of the four typhoons were listed as intense typhoons. Yinxing got it started on November 7 as a Category 4 storm. Torah followed on November 11 as a mere Category 1 typhoon. Just a few days later, Usagi barreled through the area on November 14 with a rating of a Category 4 typhoon. This was followed by Man-Yi on November 16 as a monster Category 5 equivalent.
All four of these storms were active at the same time for a short period. This was the first time that this has happened in the month of November across the northwest Pacific Basin since records began in 1951.
