Inclement Conditions on Tap for the Weekend for Southern and Central U.S.
Alexis Thornton
2 weeks agoIt is setting up to be another rocky weekend for the southern U.S. in the days ahead. The stormy conditions will come on the heels of a severe weather outbreak a few days ago. Here is what is lurking for the South and up into the Plains in the days to come.
Severe Weather on the Horizon for Southern and Central U.S.
Forecasters are warning that severe weather is back in the picture for parts of the southern Plains and the Mississippi Valley beginning on Saturday and lingering into the start of the week. The new influx of unsettled weather will come one week after a tornado outbreak left over 40 dead across the central and southern U.S.
Friday is forecast to be mostly calm thanks to a mass of dry air anchored over the southern Plains. However, that will all change later on Saturday when a cold front coming in from the Pacific Northwest will work to pull up moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to support the development of thunderstorms.
While this system is not likely to feature storms as widespread as last weekend, it will still pose potential risks to those in its path. Meteorologists note that there are not as many supportive ingredients in place with the impending event when compared to last weekend's devastation.
