Helene has been downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall in Florida's Big Bend late last night. But, its effects are still being felt across the Southeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Long after its arrival, Tropical Storm Helene continued to wreak havoc across the Southeast with destructive winds and heavy rain. This is historic because it led to the first flash flood warning in Atlanta’s history.

Three Fatalities Reported in Georgia and Florida

In Wheeler County, Georgia, two people tragically lost their lives when a mobile home was destroyed during one of the tornado warnings. In Florida, another person died in a crash on Interstate 4 near Tampa.

Helene officially made landfall about 10 miles southwest of Perry, Florida, around 11 PM EST. As the storm moved inland, it began to weaken. However, its impact stretched far and wide.
