The focus of the scorching heat in the northwestern corner of the country is making a move to the east heading into the new week. Who will get in on this extreme heat and who will begin to see some relief? Read on for all of the details.

Searing Heat Lingers in Parts of the West Into Early Next Week

The weather pattern is going to change in the coming days for parts of the western U.S. Some portions of the Pacific Northwest will continue to see soaring temperatures and the elevated risk of wildfires and smoke as the last week of July arrives. The interior portions of the Northwest will continue to see the relentless heat through the end of the weekend.

Other areas of the West Coast that will not see a break any time soon include the Desert Southwest and the interior portions of California and into Idaho and the eastern half of Oregon and Washington. Daily high temperature records that have stood in place since the early 1900s could fall during this time period.

Boise is one city that is going to see the chance of record highs through Wednesday. The top historical average during the height of summer for the state capital of Idaho is 95 degrees. The next few days will feature temperatures that climb 10 to 15 degrees above this norm. As such, the city is under an excessive heat warning through 9 pm Wednesday.
