Oh, the joys of summer – complete with beach volleyball and picturesque hikes. The trouble is, when we get so swept away in the moment, we sometimes forget to reapply sunscreen. 

When exposure to the sun is prolonged or severe enough, sunburn blisters may form. Not only are they painful, but they also take a little while to heal. Let’s take a closer look at why blisters from a sunburn form and how to treat them. 

What Are Sunburn Blisters?

Sunburn blisters are the result of prolonged exposure to the ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. As the UV rays penetrate the top layer of the skin, they cause damage to the skin cells.
