Here is a look back at the most memorable weather events that happened over the past year, ranging from powerful tornadoes to the deadliest wildfire in the country over the last century.
Record-breaking January Tornadoes
January is not typically a month that is associated with tornadic activity, making January of 2023 quite the anomaly.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center (SPC), the month clocked in with 168 confirmed tornadoes, spread out over two outbreaks. This number was more than triple the norm for the month, setting a new record in the process.
