It has already been a chilly start to the week for the Southeast and Florida but forecasters are warning that even colder air is on the way by the end of the week. The mercury dipped into the mid 40s early Monday morning for cities such as Orlando and Tampa. The temperatures landed in the mid 50s as far south as Miami.

The bitterly cold temperatures forced the closure of some of Central Florida's most popular tourist attractions. Several theme parks announced closures in the region. For instance, Universal's Volcano Bay water park closed its gates on Monday and Tuesday due to the cold.

Just down the road, Walt Disney World Resort's Blizzard Beach water park is closed through Wednesday with park officials citing the weather for the "unprecedented" closure as high temperatures top out in the mid 60s during the peak afternoon heating hours and fall into the low 40s overnight.

SeaWorld's Aquatica water park is also closed through at least Wednesday. Officials are advising tourists and residents to check each park's website or social media accounts for the latest information on the closures and operating hours.
