As Friday night approaches, skywatchers are in for a breathtaking treat: the Super Beaver Moon, the final supermoon of 2024, is set to make its dazzling appearance. This celestial event marks the last of four consecutive supermoons this year, giving viewers one final chance in 2024 to witness the moon at its biggest and brightest.

Whether you’re a seasoned astronomy enthusiast or simply enjoy nature’s beauty, this supermoon is worth setting aside time to experience firsthand. The Super Beaver Moon promises to deliver an unforgettable sight, as this November full moon aligns with the moon’s closest point to Earth, creating an optical effect that makes it appear larger and more luminous than usual.

It’s a natural spectacle that connects viewers worldwide as they look up to marvel at the moon’s splendor.

What Exactly Is a Supermoon?

So, what makes a supermoon different from any other full moon? A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon’s perigee—the point in its elliptical orbit when it’s closest to Earth. During this period, the moon can appear up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than it would at apogee, the point when the moon is farthest from Earth.
