The nation of Ukraine cannot catch a break. Local officials have confirmed that at least 10 people are dead after a massive snowstorm swept through the country to start the week. Here is a look at what is happening in this corner of the globe.

Three Days of Winter Weather Kills 10 in Ukraine

This week's snowstorm in Ukraine came as residents continue to try to go about life as the war with Russia rages on. A senior official in Ukraine confirmed that at least 10 people are dead as a result of the storm that first fired up on Sunday. The three days of stormy weather left much of the nation covered in heavy snow.

Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said that over 400 settlements spread throughout 11 regions were dealing with widespread power outages. Over 1,500 first responders were working to reach the thousands of residents in need of assistance.

The fatalities happened in the regions of Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv. Odesa was hit particularly hard with snow drifts reaching a height of two meters. In addition to the confirmed fatalities, nearly two dozen more people were reported injured, including two children.
